“Design is how you make people feel, not what it looks like.”

A year ago, our design review cycle took two weeks. Every screen went through the same five gates, regardless of how small the change was, and by the time anything shipped the context that made it feel urgent had usually faded.
The fix wasn't lowering our bar — it was building two lanes. Small, reversible changes move fast through a single design-and-engineering pairing. Anything that touches identity, trust, or money still gets the full review, because those are the places where craft actually matters most.
What surprised us was how much faster the big things got too. Once the team wasn't spending its attention on low-stakes polish, the reviews that mattered had more room to be slow and careful.
Design is how you make people feel, not what it looks like — and feel is downstream of trust. You earn trust by being careful where it counts and fast everywhere else.
