Our CEO on the art of saying no to good opportunities.

“Revenue follows trust. Always has, always will.”

Nandan Patel

March 3, 2026

We get pitched things every week that would grow a number in the short term — a partnership, an ad format, a growth loop — and most of them get a no.

It's an easy trap: almost every opportunity that's bad for trust is genuinely good for some metric, at least for a while. That's exactly why it's dangerous. If you only measure the metric, you'll take every one of those deals, and you'll wonder a year later why nobody trusts you anymore.

Revenue follows trust. Always has, always will. We'd rather grow slower and still be a platform people are willing to bring their real identity to, than grow fast and become one more feed people perform for instead of belong to.

So the discipline isn't really about saying no to opportunities. It's about being honest with ourselves about which ones are actually opportunities, and which ones are just short-term sugar with a long-term bill.
